2019 Summer Staff Introductions

Welcome back!!

Hello!

My name is Fletcher and I was a camper for five summers, and this will be my second summer as a counselor! Last summer was awesome for me because I got to meet so many new, unique people and it helped me to be more accepting and more loving of my fellow citizens of Earth. I’m super excited to have another summer like that! I can’t wait to go on pontoon jumps and spin the wheel with all of you this summer!

Welcome back Casey!
“I have been a counselor at Mystic for 3 years and will be returning for a 4th as a village director! My favorite part of camp is seeing the growth of each camper while they are here and seeing how they grow each year or just by the end of each week. My favorite core value is responsibility because it can be used in so many different ways and I love doing a shout out when my campers are being responsible!”

See you all NEXT FRIDAY!!

2019 Summer Staff Introductions

Hello fabulous readers —

Say hello to Diana!

Hey y'all!! This is my first summer ever at Mystic! I was born and raised in Nebraska, which means that the past few summers spent at YMCA Camp Kitaki. I absolutely love doing anything outdoors and my favorite place in any camp has to be the barn! I am beyond excited to spend my summer in Michigan getting to know all you amazing people! See you soon!

Welcome back, Chris!

I was a camper for 6 years, and this summer will be my 3rd as a counselor. Heading up to Mystic this June, I’ll be most excited to conclude weekday adventures with nights of stargazing in the back pasture. An interesting fact about me is that I’m the best connect four player in the Midwest (this is unofficial but I’m sure it’s true), and that I will have no problem proving it to anyone who may be so unfortunate as to challenge me!

Hi I'm Brynne!

This will be my tenth summer at Mystic Lake. I was a camper for 8 summers and this will be my second summer as a counselor! I'm looking forward to pontoon jumps and more games of tong tag! My favorite part of camp is Friday night when I get to see the amazing impact a week at camp has had on all my campers and of course, the Bruno Story. I'm excited for another great summer at Mystic Lake and I can't wait to see you all!

Hope to see you again Next Friday !!

2019 Summer Staff Introductions

Hello wonderful Mystic Lake fans!

Hi I’m Dr. Claire!

I’ve been at camp for 12 years! I started off as a camper and made my way up to working on the lovely support staff. My favorite part of camp is seeing all the smiling faces of kids having fun and making memories to last a life time. My favorite four core value is caring ❤️ because being kind is what makes this world go round.

Everyone meet JavonieShe will be a first time counselor this summer.

“I'm working on a Ph.D in psychology. I love things like music, writing and video games. I am very excited to make great memories this summer!”

Hi I’m Devyn

I was a camper at mystic for four summers and this summer will be my second summer as a camp counselor. My favorite memory of last summer was getting to watch fireworks on the Fourth of July with my campers. For this summer, I’m looking forward to doing pontoon jumps with my campers and to watch them open up and make new friends!

Join us the same day next week for an introduction to more of the fabulous Mystic Lake Staff!

2019 Summer Staff Introductions

Welcome back blog readers!

Hiya!

My name is Barbara and I'm from Poland. Last year I was an exchange student in Mount Pleasant and this summer I'm coming back to Michigan to work as a counselor at Mystic. This is going to be my first time, so I'm very excited! I'm also really looking forward to meeting campers, having bonfires, and watching the sunset.

Hello everyone!

My name is Jacob and I am very excited to return to Mystic for my 9th summer. I have spent 6 years here as a camper and this will be my 3rd year as a counselor! One of my favorite things to do at camp is to enjoy a nice root beer float party out on the pontoons to cool off on a hot, summer day. I am also really looking forward to eating foil dinners and playing fun games during our cookouts. Can't wait to see everyone again this summer!
Catch ya next Friday!!

Camp Starlight runs immersive with the Mystic Experience program at Mystic Lake. Campers enjoy traditional camp activities as well as dyslexia specific sessions which provide encouragement, information and growth  all while providing the opportunity to meet and connect with their fellow campers and develop friendships that will last a lifetime.

The goals of Camp Starlight are to show campers their leadership capabilities and to embrace their strengths, all while in a safe and welcoming environment that encourages group participation with their fellow cabin mates.

2019 Summer Staff Introductions

If I weren't a Mystic Counselor... ♫
WELCOME BACK EVERYONE!!

Hi everyone, I'm Paigelynn!

I am so excited to spend my second summer at Mystic Lake! I love doing pontoon jumps, watching the sunset on the back porch, and feeling 100% comfortable with being who I am at camp.

Respect is my favorite of the four core values. At Mystic Lake, everyone is taught what respect means and how to both use and show it. This helps to make camp a welcoming, inclusive place where everybody can enjoy themselves. See y’all in a couple months! 😃

Hi everyone!

My name is Meraf and this will be my fifth year at Mystic! I was a camper for 3 years and this is my 2nd summer as a counselor. My favorite part of camp is getting to meet new people every week and pontoon jumping!
I’m looking forward to smacos and campfires and my favorite memory from last summer was the week my campers and I spent in the water to escape the heat.

Howdy Mystic Friends and Families!
This is Ranger Rick otherwise known as Patrick, or Trek for short. I’ve been coming to Mystic for a variety of summers! Ranging from being a camper for 7 years and a counselor for 6. With the summer soon to arrive, my favorite, most radical activity to do on camp, is camp Tai Chi near the rolling waves of the lake. Some interesting facts about me is that I like to mow lawns...and...I’m a pretty cool guy! Peace out and cya soon campers. ✌️

We will see y'all next Friday for the next Mystic Lake Staff Update!!

2019 Summer Staff Introductions

Hello Valued Blog Readers!

Each Friday starting today until camp starts, we will be introducing 2-3 members of our 2019 Summer Staff. The people introduced here give youth the tools to achieve, belong, grow and build relationships. They exemplify our four core values: honesty, caring, respect, and responsibility in all they do. They teach the importance of these values to our campers and each other every day.

Amiee is going to start things off for us!!

Amiee says:
This will be summer 6 for Old Woodrow. My favorite core value is caring because the most important thing we can do at camp is to be kind to one another and help build each other up. I am most looking forward to seeing our return campers and meeting the new campers because campers are the best part of camp!

Ricky has worked for the YMCA for 30 years and has spent 26 of those here at Mystic! How did he get his start and why does he stay?

Check it out below 👇

I came to camp in the 7th grade with Kinawa Middle School from Okemos- we participated in a 5 day Outdoor Education trip in the winter. I actually remember my counselor's name- Dave Hart. Although he was not a camp employee (volunteer high school counselor through the school) he still had a tremendous impact on all of us in the cabin-  by far the best week of my school days! I absolutely love sitting on the front porch and talking to campers and staff as they walk by on their way to and from activities, or take a time out to take a seat as well. I have fostered some great relationships over the years doing this. I cannot wait for all of our campers and staff to arrive- summer camp is the best!

Check us out next Friday to see who else will be around Mystic Lake this summer!
